What is your stance on seatbelts? To get this out of the way, I am 100% for them.

I just sort of want some insight as to why some people don't wear them. It makes no sense. It is such an easy way to save a life or be that much safer, and its not like they are particularly constrictive.

Have a Miata.

On a side topic, I went to a friend's house today, and her dad has a spectacular collection, including a 1965 Vette Vert with literally every option of the year (and only 30k miles), a '55 Chevy 2 door wagon with a 1960 'Vette 327, an absolutely gorgeous '60 Nomad in red on air. He also just happened to have a '69 GT500 in black with gold stripes.

There should only be one stance: wear them. At all times.

100% for them. I questioned a guy that was against them one time on why he didn't wear his. His response was "I feel like they restrain me".

As a test for people that don't like them, accelerate to 110 km/h. Slam on brakes as hard as possible.

If you don't wear them you don't get in my car, and I will not drive in your car if you don't wear them. That simple, I do not want to see a friend or family member dead because of a bad choice.
I will say there is a exception if it is old enough that there is not any or just a lap belt. rather not get internal injury's.

I'd like to swap mine out for a conventional set. Currently it's a fixed passive belt system. The holder for the belt is right next to my skull. Not safe.

The only argument I've heard on not wearing them that made any sense to me were from old racing drivers who considered it more survivable to be thrown from their cars then fixed to them in a crash. Considering how fragile those cars were I can see the (possibly flawed) logic, in todays cars (racing or road) that argument does not hold in the slightest.

Working on fixing the "bugs" out of it, but I regularly use it for commuter duty. Handles much more like a modern car than you'd expect. It sat for years so I'm having to massage out a lot of neglect.

I know a couple people who are totally against them because they've heard a couple stories of people being trapped because of them in a crash and died as a result, but those are isolated cases. Seatbelts save many more lives than they end.

Most people who don't wear them don't like the way they feel or that they're constricted by it. I have alot of friends who never wear them. I always put mine on. I used to not always wear it, but at some point I got in the habit of always putting it on.

I've been in five car wrecks in my life. The last time I was driving an NA just like your picture (not really, mine was old and beat up) and I got rear-ended by a pickup truck In two of those wrecks I wasn't wearing a seatbelt; one time I got knocked out and spent five days in the hospital and the other time I got thrown out onto the street and spent two days in the hospital. In the other three wrecks I was wearing a seatbelt and the worst that happened to me was a bruised shoulder and shaky nerves.

I remember somebody posted a reversed version of that gif onto Oppo once, which I saved, though I still can't post gifs in any comments for some reason. I click on the gif I want to post and it loads for a while and then stops completely. Any gif I post now is the result of searching across the interwebs for the exact gif I have saved in my files.

My stance?

Seatbelts are a "common sense" safety device.

If you don't have any common sense, then don't wear one, it's your life and your choice I suppose. If you want to end up dead or a quadriplegic, that's your choice.

Me, I have tons of common sense and always wear mine.

I used to never wear them. Then, one day I was driving around in my '95 Taurus, got the strange urge to put it on, and no kidding less than a minute later I was at a stop light was rear-ended by a guy in an expedition doing 50mph (texting and driving) Needless to say, I ALWAYS buckle up now.

I always wear them, but I've gotten into the bad habit of putting it on while the car is in motion. It probably saves me one or two seconds and really isn't worth the risk.

In 99% of all wrecks, a seatbelt WILL save your life.

There was an exception where a car wrapped around a tree, and the driver survived due to being ejected from the car, due to him NOT wearing a seatbelt. Had he worn it, he would've been crushed.

For them. I recently spent an extra $150 to get the three point harnesses I installed in my 74 C10, and it was worth it. The increased sense of security is huge over lap belts (or no belts). Especially in modern cars though were the seatbelts are very adjustable and not uncomfortable in the slightest, I don't get why everyone doesn't wear them.

There's a video to this. You don't want to see it. It's the sound of the frame rails banging on cobblestones and scraping on everything else. Every piece of the car rattles because it has gotten so screwed up from no suspension travel and the bottom hitting everything.
